about.
Jacene Witzel has had an off and on relationship with ceramics since 1994. The earliest influence of ceramic art in her life was in “The Brady Bunch” Season 4, Episode 6 “Fright Night”; the episode where Carol Brady makes a ceramic bust of Mike Brady. Since then, she has always wanted to create a bust of her own. It wasn’t until 2015 that she was able to make the dream of creating a bust come true. Since that time, her work has been mainly devoted to sculptural figurative ceramics.
Recent work is a schizophrenic exercise in themes and series based on They Might Be Giants song titles, animal puns, facial expressions of emotion, shadow puppet, and anything else that pops into her head and won't stop rolling around in there.
She is also a mother and a licensed architect in Knoxville, Tennessee.
